Childrens Fly Tying, Fly Casting & Entomology Workshops will be run by APGAI Ireland, AAPGAI & EJ "Ted" Malone.
These will be free to all children. While we will try our best to cater for everyone places are limited, to be certain of a place for your child please use the "Contact Us" page to e-mail us and book your childs place.

The workshops will be held in Killyleagh Bridge Centre and Killyleagh Castle Grounds.

This years childrens Workshop programme will start with a ”Safety When Fishing” PowerPoint presentation.

After the safety presentation the rest of the workshop is as follows.

River walk concentrating on the state of the river banks and reference to the importance of maintaining the river environment, quoting the benefit to wildlife, aquatic life and fish population.
Kick-samples will be taken during river walk and the aquatic specimens will be identified from charts by the attending children.
The workshop on identifying the insects will be interactive and held in the community centre.
After identification, a fly dressing workshop will be held in order to demonstrate how to imitate these insects in order to deceive the trout or sea trout.
PowerPoint presentations on the following subjects: Game Fish, Sea Fish and Coarse Fish will be delivered.
Fly casting instruction will be available for the children outside on adjacent football pitches or on the lawn of the community centre.
