Christopher Bryant - England

I grew up in the rural Eastern Cape of South Africa and started fly fishing at the age of 10. I cut my teeth fishing for the indigenous Small Mouth Yellowfish on the Eastern Capes lowland rivers and for trout on the high altitude streams of the Southern Drakensberg. These were very rural surroundings where wild leopard still roam the mountains. It was in these majestic and rugged landscapes that my love affair with wild trout began.

I am a self confessed light line junkie, and although I enjoy all forms of fly fishing, I am in my element when on the tiniest of streams armed with a 0wt or 1wt rod and line. I am qualified as a casting instructor with APGAI Ireland as well as a level 3 NOCN Game Angling Instructor.

I started tying flies almost 20 years ago and became qualified as a fly dressing instructor with APGAI Ireland last Year. I most enjoy tying river trout flies and stick to the belief that simplicity is the key to an effective fly.

I look forward to tying at the IIFF and meeting friends, both old and new, and am grateful for the opportunity of sharing some of my patterns, learning from visitors and fellow tyers and showcasing some indigenous flies of South African design.
